Adventure Chapters in My Great Story

First blister to final blaze: My walk on the Sheltowee Trace
Purposeful Retreats to the Outdoors

About

Hi, I’m Steph. My wife, Amy, and I are in that in-between stage of life — the kid’s grown and gone, but retirement is still a ways off. What started as a big adventure — an end-to-end section hike of the 343-mile Sheltowee Trace Trail in 2026 — took an unexpected turn. After 51 miles, I decided to step off the trail and call it.
With that space now free on my calendar, I’ve turned my focus to other ways of getting outside — hiking, camping, kayaking, biking — anything that helps me soak up nature’s steady healing energy. My goal these days is simple: learn to carry less, in every sense of the phrase. I don’t need a perfect story, just a great one worth living. Live a great story, not a perfect one.
